Direct Access Counseling Rates & Policies
Direct Access Counseling accepts clients on a self-pay basis. Currently, Medicare and WellCare (Staywell and Healthease) are the only forms of insurance accepted. Payment, in the form of cash or personal check is due at time of service. If you would like to submit a claim to your insurance carrier, we will work with you to provide the necessary documentation to allow you to submit your own claim.

In today’s insurance market, counseling services are typically not covered by most insurance carriers unless they are deemed to be a medical necessity. In order to prove medical necessity, a formal psychiatric diagnosis must be given. Once a diagnosis is given, it becomes part of your permanent medical record. Most importantly, your insurance company determines how many counseling sessions you are entitled to rather than leaving this very personal health care decision to the discretion of you and your counselor.

Your mental and emotional health is just as important as any other aspect of your health care. We often ignore the importance of this area of our lives and may be reluctant to invest the resources necessary to maintain it. We have worked hard to ensure that our rates our affordable so that you are able to attend to your well-being by discovering the inner strengths that you have to cope with life’s challenges. 

Counseling Initial Evaluation:
On your first visit, we will ask you to complete registration forms for our office records. At that time, we may also ask you to complete an authorization form for a release of information to and from doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, etc.

Future Appointments:
We request that you be prompt for appointments. If you find it necessary to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we require at least 24 hours notice prior to the appointment time or the standard fee will be charged.

Telephone Calls:
The Direct Access office is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:30, Monday through Friday. Please speak with the office manager or leave a message on our voice mail. If you need to set up a telephone consultation with one of our therapists, please leave your name and number and we will return your call. A fee for a telephone consultation requested between scheduled sessions may be charged at the rate of $20.00 per fifteen minutes. Evening and weekend appointments are available as needed.
